Plans and Progress

So far we are at the very beginning of this journey, but together with our Scouts, family, friends, and local community, we can work together to make this happen.

We aim to complete the hut by September 2023 but we have a lot to do before then.

Here are some key milestones in our plan:​

  • April 2021 – Executive Committee refresh versus Rebuild decision ​
  • July 2021 – Establishment of sub-groups (Communication, Building, Fund Raising, Grants)​
  • 16th & 17th October 2021, 10-11.30am – Open Morning to view the plans for the new hut alongside Scout Leaders and Committee members, Sandy Lane.​
  • Late October 2021 – Formal designs to be finalised.​
  • April 2022 – Executive Committee formal progress review (Go / No Go decision point 2); Planning permission to be submitted.​
  • November 2022 – Executive Committee fund raising review (Go / No Go decision point 3) ​
  • April 2023 – Building work to commence.​
  • September 2023 – The Grand Opening.​

If it is decided as part of the Executive Committee review that the rebuild is going to be unachievable within the defined timeframe, then we will revert to a robust refresh investing the money raised to that point. Whilst this is not the desired solution for the Scout Hut we feel the project needs to deliver within a reasonable timeframe.
