  • Sandy Lane

    John Henry St. Quinten Astell (owner of the Dale Lodge Estate) gifted the Sandy Lane site to 1st Sunningdale, and a wooden hut was erected, with the help of some of the Scouts.

  • 1st Sunningdale Scout Flag

    A troop flag was presented to 1st Sunningdale Scout Group in loving memory of John Norman Dodd, Pastor and Scoutmaster – 25th June 1936 (inscription on brass) …..and it’s still in use today!

  • At Camp in 1930

    The 1st Sunningdale Pewitt Scout Patrol at camp in East Wittering. The Scout Leader at this time is believed to have been T.H Westmacott. He was ex-Navy and had 2 sons in 1st Sunningdale. The troop also used to put on Christmas Shows in Sunningdale Village Hall.

    CUBS were first registered at 1st Sunningdale on 31st March 1927. The Leader, Miss Zillah Flockton had 7 Cubs in the pack.

  • 1st Sunningdale Scout Incorporation

    1st Sunningdale was one of the earliest Scout Groups in the country and first registered in 1910 as part of the Windsor Forest Association. They used to meet in the old stables and a bell tent in the grounds of Dale Lodge (a small local estate)
