Cubs are Young People (both boys and girls) aged 8 to 10½ who like mastering new skills and have the courage to try new things and learn from them. They are curious about the world around them and enjoy making friends, having fun, and going on adventures. Cubs also like helping others and making a difference in their own communities.
Cubs are split into smaller groups called Sixes and during their time at Cubs many become the leader (Sixer). All Cubs enjoy getting badges and some of the skills they develop are practical, like knowing how to cook a delicious meal or give someone first aid. Our weekly meetings (Mondays 6.30-8.00pm) are full of interesting games and challenging activities which meet the various badge criteria, and many Cubs achieve the prestigious Chief Scout Silver Award before moving on to Scouts. No matter what, they are always having lots of fun along the way.
Our Cubs also spend plenty of time in the great outdoors; from making shelters in Swinley Forest, playing dark games at Earleywood, to doing a Night Hike around Sunningdale. They also enjoy the challenge of raft building, climbing, canoeing and pioneering and camps are always some of the most memorable events of the year. Whether under canvas at an activity centre and cooking on an open fire or spending the night on HMS Belfast finding out about life below deck, the enthusiasm of a Cub knows no bounds, because being a Cub is all about making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.
If you would like more information or would like your child to join Cubs please complete our online joining application form. There is a waiting list but you can fast track your child joining by volunteering to be a leader.
