Explorers are the senior section of 1st Sunningdale Scouts, and young people usually move up around about their 14th birthday.

We meet on Fridays during term time from 7.30 to 9pm, mostly in the Scout Hut in normal times, but recently we have been making the most of the weather and meeting outside; either at Earleywood or elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

There is a transition from being a Scout to an Explorer; Explorer’s are encouraged to challenge themselves and take responsibility for their activities. Badges can be earned based on their hobbies and interests, but they need sustained dedication to achieve the awards!

Explorers can also take part in the Explorer Scout Young Leaders scheme. ESYLs are Explorer Scouts who volunteer alongside adult leaders in a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop.

Being an Explorer gives you a chance to gain a whole host of life skills that will be of immense use in the future, whether it be in employment or leisure.

If you would like more information or would like your child to join Explorers please complete our online joining application form. There is a long waiting list but you can bypass a lot of the waiting by volunteering to be an adult helper.
