If you were unable to join us, the leaders gave a wonderful update as to what the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have been doing during the last 12 months. It’s been very challenging going between face-to-face & virtual meetings, in bubbles and then not, so it was great to be able to acknowledge all the hard work done by the leaders who have carried on Scouting alongside their own family life, home schooling and working from home.
Our Chair, Micky, gave an update on the new hut project, current timelines, and funding proposals. He also shared a first view of the architect’s drawings, which will be on display during the open days at the hut on October 16th and 17th (10.00am-11.30am). The fund raising is going well, with the upcoming Quiz Night on 7th October and we are selling raffle tickets online, with some great prizes donated by local businesses. We also announced The 300 CLUB – a monthly lottery, where there is a 1 in 50 chance of winning at least £50 each month.
Even with all the difficulties this year, some young people have still managed to earn bronze, silver, gold, and platinum Chief Scout Awards and for the first time in the history of 1st Sunningdale, we had our very first Diamond Chief Scout Award too. Congratulations to everyone who has achieved these prestigious awards – very well done.
We also celebrated all the Chief Scout Commendations and Commissioner awards for many of our adult volunteers – all very well deserved.
